Jesus Changes Everything, He Makes All Things New
Many people believe many things about Jesus and what He said and did, but for most Christians Jesus is the anointed one, the Son of God who came to bring us back into relationship with God. Our understanding of Jesus is summed up in the letter to the Colossians.
Christ is the visible likeness of the invisible God. He is the first-born Son, superior to all created things. For through Him God created everything in heaven and on earth, the seen and the unseen things, including spiritual powers, lords, rulers, and authorities. God created the whole universe through Him and for Him. Christ existed before all things, and in union with Him all things have their proper place. He is the head of His body, the church; He is the source of the body’s life. He is the first-born Son, who was raised from death, in order that He alone might have the first place in all things. For it was by God’s own decision that the Son has in Himself the full nature of God. Through the Son, then, God decided to bring the whole universe back to Himself. God made peace through His Son’s blood on the cross and so brought back to Himself all things, both on earth and in heaven. At one time you were far away from God and were His enemies because of the evil things you did and thought. But now, by means of the physical death of His Son, God has made you His friends, in order to bring you, holy, pure, and faultless, into His presence. Colossians 1:15-22 GNB
Jesus is the visible likeness of God, what Jesus did, what He said, and His intent are visible signs of what is important to God. If we want to know anything about who God is and what He wants for us, Jesus is the first place to look.
Through Jesus all things are created and have their place. This for us means that Jesus is Lord of all, there is no greater name and no greater authority in which we can turn to.
Through Jesus God brings all things back unto Himself. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection all things can enter back into wholeness, life and being fully connected to God. In Jesus we see that God is intent on being at peace with us and in friendship with us. It is the power of Jesus that transforms our lives, renews our hearts, and brings healing.
As it states in 1 Peter 2:24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.
It is with the confidence of who Jesus is and what Jesus has done that we believe that Jesus Changes Everything. We wish to invite you to experience this yourself in your own life and see God take your life and transform it for His Glory.
How to allow Jesus to be Lord and Saviour.
To start you must agree to God’s understanding of the world
All of us live in a world that is broken. It doesn’t take very long when we look around to see that the world we live in is a mess. We hear of violence, wars, of broken families and people killing themselves.
In one way or another, all of us experience brokenness in our life. We didn’t choose to live in this world but we are born here, and all of us are affected by this brokenness.
However, God didn’t create the world to be broken like this. In fact, when He made the world, it was perfect. He made our world full of love, where we would be in a perfect relationship with God and with other people. We weren’t meant to experience the hurt and the brokenness that we are all experiencing today.
The problem was that in that perfect design, the perfect relationship with God and others, we decided to go away from it, and we sinned.
The Bible says we choose to do wrong. Nobody made us do it, but we did it, and as a result, it separated us from God and His design, and it led us to this world of brokenness.
What happens is that when we’re in that brokenness, we try to get out. Nobody likes to be there, and so we are often looking for ways out. Sometimes we think partying or alcohol is going to fix it. Sometimes we look to relationships or sex, and hope that’s going to fix it.
We buy things or do fun hobbies, activities, or holidays as a way of escape. We even think religion or doing good deeds is going to help. Or maybe being successful in my job, my career or my academic studies – that’s going to take me out of my brokenness.
But the reality is that all these things of trying to get us out of our brokenness, just don’t get us there. They’re like springs – they promise a way out, but before we know it, they all pull us right back – and send us right back down into brokenness.
Now God seeing this, because He didn’t want us to stay in brokenness, He made a solution in this world, to make it possible for us to get out of our brokenness. He did so through Jesus.
God came down into the world as the man Jesus. He lived a perfect life. He never sinned and didn’t deserve to die. But Jesus chose to die on the cross. Then 3 days later He rose from the dead, proving He was God.
Jesus preached a simple message. He said that if anybody repents and believes in Him, they will be saved because all their sins will be forgiven, if we really choose to follow Him and make Jesus King of our life.
God promises to gives us all of Himself and heal us from our brokenness by restoring us to his design.
God’s goal isn’t to leave us there though, but to send us right back out to other broken people, so that we can tell them about Jesus, that they too might be able to be restored to God’s design.
So, the reality is that we are in either one of these two places.
We are either in this world of brokenness, or through Jesus, we are saved and being restored back to God’s design.
In which of these two places are you in today?
Which one do you want to be in?
Is there anything today that is keeping you from repenting and believing in Jesus and following Him?
You can do that right now!
Prayer to Pray
Lord Jesus, I renounce control and lordship of my life. I acknowledge that I have been my own god living life my way and not yours. I accept that Jesus died on the cross and rose again so that I can be forgiven once and for all time, so you can be in your rightful place as God of my life. I renounce the dependence I have had on substances, on controlling my environment, on fear and on worry. I accept that Jesus is now Lord and is in control and will provide all my needs. I ask the Holy Spirit to be in my life to connect me to the Father and give me an assurance that I am saved, forgiven and empowered to live my life for the Glory of his name. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
